Formation Clinic and JLFC Annual Convention, Clinic and Business Meeting
Greetings Formation Pilots
JLFC is once again holding its annual convention and formation flying clinic October 3rd thru October 6, 2024 in Terre Haute Indiana (KHUF). Arrival day is Thursday October 3rd, with groundschool for those that need it starting at 1700. Safety briefings will be conducted each day starting at 0800.
All JLFC members are welcome as well as any warbird pilot wishing to learn and to safely participate in formation flying. For those of you that are new to formation flying or are a bit rusty, please go to the FlyFast.0rg website and review the Formation Knowledge Guide and watch the RedStar formation video.
Last year the folks at Hoosier Aviation in Terre Haute Indiana (KHUF) hosted our event, and have graciously agreed to again become the host for this year's JLFC Convention and Formation clinic. Last years clinic was a great success due in large part to the hospitality provided by the folks at Hoosier Aviation. They are providing a large ramp area to launch our training flights, a large conference room to hold groundschool on Thursday, and to conduct preflight briefings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In addition, they are providing light snacks and beverages throughout the day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are also hosting a pulled pork and barbecued chicken dinner with the appropriate beverages for us Saturday night at no additional cost.
They have also expressed a strong desire to host our annual convention and formation clinics in the future as well, so I’m hoping to see a large turnout of planes and pilots so that we make this the best JLFC event ever. As a bonus, there is no registration or participation fee. The only cost is to provide for your own expenses.
Josh, the Manager at Hoosier Aviation was successful in securing two 12 passenger vans from Enterprise for us. Our cost is $335 each van (about $100/day) for the weekend. This is only $28/person for transportation for the whole weekend! This is an unheard-of deal for us!!
Bill Crawford was able to negotiate a block of rooms for us at the nearby Holiday Inn Express at a very favorable rate. Please book your rooms as soon as you can.

This should be a great event and an opportunity to get in some formation flying. There will be several Navions, hopefully a Chipmunk or 2, L-19’s and L-5’s in attendance. It will also be a chance to catch up with old friends. If you are able to make it, please make your hotel reservations as soon as you can. Also contact me to let me know if you are coming or not so I can get a good headcount for the number of folks having dinner on Saturday night and so that I can make the van reservations for transportation.
