2025 Cheddar Flag Formation Clinic

About this event

This clinic is a great way to start or continue your formation training. For you Leads, you'll get some proficiency and ability to pay it forward. It's also a sure-fire way to make sure you meet the currency requirements to fly with the L&O's at the AirVenture (Oshkosh) Warbird show.

We know that the weekend before Oshkosh is the busiest weekend on the Airshow calendar and a lot of you have volunteer commitments at OSH. Cheddar Flag gives you the opportunity to get current within the 45 days prior to OSH.

All JLFC members are welcome, and training will be offered in JLFC L&O warbird aircraft. (Pilots seeking formation training in other aircraft should contact the organizers before registering to confirm aircraft can be accommodated.)

Operation Cheddar Flag, was started out as a new clinic in 2024. It was designed to allow those of you with schedule conflicts the weekend of The Casa Clinic in DeKalb, a chance to satisfy the FAA 8900 Currency requirements in order to fly in the L&O show at Oshkosh. Cheddar Flag is held at the Waukesha County Airport, (KUES) in Waukesha, WI. Arrival day is Thursday June 19th, 2025, and the clinic will begin with a ground school that evening at 1600. Attendance is mandatory for participants who have not attended a formal, instructor-taught ground school. Instructors should try to come in Wednesday for an instructor pilot standardization meeting.  If there is anyone that wants to get in some formation practice early on Thursday prior to ground school we will schedule some training sorties. . There will be a mandatory safety briefing at 0800 on Friday and Saturday.  The Clinic is being held at "The Bat Cave" a private hangar on the South East Side of the airport. Right off taxiway D just east of Foxtrot. Tell ground you are going to the Bat Cave. Look for the P-51 weather vane on the roof

The ramp is large, but in the event of a higher turnout of aircraft than can be accommodated in the hangar we will have to tie down on the ramp.  Bring your own tie-downs just in case.
